USCIS will begin accepting requests for expanded DACA on February 18, 2015

Statue-of-Liberty

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will expand Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) on February 18, 2015. That will be the first day to request DACA under the revised guidelines established as part of President Obama’s recent announcements on immigration. Individuals with no lawful immigration status who are seeking initial or renewal DACA may apply on February 18, 2015. This program extends the deferred action period and employment authorization to three years from two years, and allows you to be considered for DACA if you:

1. Entered the United States before the age of 16; 2. Have lived in the United States continuously since at least January 1, 2010, rather than the prior requirement of June 15, 2007; 3. Are of any age (removes the requirement to have been born prior to June 15, 1981); and 4. Meet all the other DACA guidelines.
